The NZB Standardbred Sales are over for another year and John and Judy Stiven are pleased that three of their four yearlings on offer were sold through the ring. They appreciated the interest that was shown in their quality draft and are pleased that all of the yearlings will be given the best opportunity to succeed for their new owners and trainers.
The top priced lot was Lot 212, a Captaintreacherous colt out of Group 1 winning mare Arden's Choice (Panspacificflight x Winter Rose). He was purchased by Stonewall Stud for $140k. The colt, CC Arden, received an award for being the Best Presented Yearling at the Christchurch sale and it was extremely rewarding for the Stivens to be recognised for presenting stock that are in terrific condition and health. "Our horses are in great condition and we we like to keep them quite natural looking. They are fed well from conception through to the sales ring and that makes the difference," John said.
