Southwind Arden and Venus Serena's four year olds have recorded the two fastest mile rates of any horse racing in New Zealand this past season - the only two horses of any age group to win in 1.51.
South Coast Arden (Somebeachsomewhere/Southwind Arden) recorded a mile rate of 1.51.6 when he impressively won the Civtec 4 year old Emerald at this year's Jewels on 6th June by two and a half lengths, for trainer Brent Mangos and driver Natalie Rasmussen. He is owned by Mrs GJ Kennard, PI Kennard, Breckon Racing Syndicate, GA Woodham, Mrs KJ Woodham, JA Gibbs MNZM and Mrs A Gibbs.
Laver (Art Major/ Venus Serena) recorded a mile rate of 1.51.9 when breaking the track record in the Nelson Pine Industries Classic on 10 January 2021 for trainers Geoff and James Dunn and driver Blair Orange. He was bred, and is owned by, Bob and Jen Sandford.
