During a trip to the US in 2014 John and Judy visited Hanover Shoe Farm especially to see the sensational racehorse and stallion Somebeachsomewhere. John has supported the stallion for several years, initially breeding the stallion's first winner in New Zealand and 2 YO record holder, Someardensomewhere, from the Christian Cullen mare L'oiseau de nuit.
Also during their US visit the Stivens visited White Birch Farm in New Jersey and were able to see the Artsplace mare Worldly Treasure. She is the mother of one of Somebeachsomewhere's best colts - Captaintreacherous.
The late Steve Williams then made it possible for them visit Tony Alagna's Racing barn at Gaitway Farm to see the colt for themselves. This was a wonderful opportunity that was very much appreciated.
The Captain, as he was known, was in his 4 year old season of racing, after completing both his 2 YO and 3YO years as the leading moneywinning standardbred.
He was a bit of a character - enjoying showing off playing with his feed bin.
Arden Lodge bred three Captaintreacherous foals this season; two colts and a filly.
Rocknroll Arden (daughter of Broodmare Excellence award winner Winter Rose) was served by Captaintreacherous late in the breeding season and her foal was born on the second of January 2021.
